The Cambridge University Finnish Society (Finnsoc) is a society for Finns studying and working at the University of Cambridge, as well as for people interested of Finnish culture. The society was founded on the Finnish Independence Day, 6th December 2002. At the moment the society has approximately 20 active members with a total of 100 members on the society email-list. The annual membership fee of 5 pounds should be paid to our Treasurer Laura Berger (St. Edmund's College) by a cheque made payable to Cambridge University Finnish Society. The membership fee is payable annually at the beginning of the academic year (1st October). The working language of the society is Finnish.
The aims of the Finnish Society are:
- to promote and support Finnish language and culture in Cambridge
- to aid Finnish students in their transition to Cambridge
- to establish contacts between Finns and those interested in Finland
- to act as a source of information for Finns who are interested in studying in Cambridge
- to act as a representative and a contact for other organisations promoting cultural exchange between Finland and the UK
- to organise events and parties
You can read the full constitution of the society from the page Constitution of the society. As the working language of the society is Finnish, the rest of this homepage will be in Finnish. For more information about the society, please email: finnsoc-info@srcf.ucam.org.
